DEPECHE MODE ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF "SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE" FOR APRIL 21, 2009. January 15, 2009.-The four legendary innovative electro, Depeche Mode, are proud to announce the launch of its much-anticipated new studio album, Sounds Of The Universe, for the April 21, 2009 (Mute Records). Electrical and energizing, the new release of the band is most dazzling and diverse in decades, which was recorded in Santa Barbara and New York and Depeche Mode in which again used a lot of vintage gear: from analog synthesizers, drum machines, in order to evoke the retro-futuristic provisions contained in the album. As for the lyrics of the songs, the disc contains many of the permanent obsessions of the group and is much more open to black humor than any of his previous albums. Like the 2005 studio album, Playing The Angel, Sounds Of The Universe compositions have both Martin Gore, the group's main songwriter, as Dave Gahan, who after perfecting his talent on two solo albums, has earned its place as the second composer of Depeche Mode.
The album also marks a reunion between the band and producer Ben Hillier, who worked with them to help give his new album his timeless sound. The first single, "Wrong", catches the attention of the listener from the first loud sound, in addition to those characteristic rhythms echoing synthesizers, and the supreme singing Dave: "Wrong!" So it already feels like a classic Depeche Mode.
Other topics include Martin with sensual music for the ballad "Jezebel," a gospel-blues song of science fiction. "In Chains" and "Hole To Feed", are songs that unite modern electronics with the sound of Bo Diddley beat. As one of the most influential bands of the post-punk, with global sales of more than 100 million albums, Depeche Mode is one of a selected site in the super league of the groups that have survived since the early 1980's with their ideals, creative vision and core members intact. Formed in 1981, Depeche Mode - Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher - continue to win critical acclaim and trade worldwide, both in the studio and record.
's 11 studio albums the band have reached the Top Ten, not only in the UK and the U.S., but also 20 countries worldwide, including Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Belgium. From the beginning, live performances by Depeche Mode continue to be a complete show attraction that must be seen, with the group appearing before 2.8 million people in 31 countries in the previous tour.
